Last ninja: 'Be able to kill your students'

AP Wire | 04/26/2006 | Last ninja: 'Be able to kill your students': "NODA, Japan - The teachings of Grand Master Masaaki Hatsumi echo through my head as he entreats me to attack a blackbelted disciple with a practice sword. 'Always be able to kill your students,' he says.

Chilling words from a shockingly fit 76-year-old man who bills himself as the world's last ninja and stocks his training chamber with weapons such as throwing stars and nunchucks. Especially to a neophyte whose closest brush with martial arts was watching Bruce Lee matinees as a kid."

The New Media Reader: Book Table of Contents

The New Media Reader: Book Table of Contents: "The New Media Reader contains writings and images from computer scientists, artists, architects, literary writers, interface designers, cultural critics, and individuals working across disciplines. The book begins with a preface and two introductions, followed by four chronological sections containing 54 chapters. Each of the chapters are preceded by an introduction, placing the selection within the context of the field and explaining its importance. A listing of the book's contents is presented here, including links to sample chapters available online as PDF files."

Second Life

Second Life | What is Second Life?: "Second Life is a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its residents. Since opening to the public in 2003, it has grown explosively and today is inhabited by nearly 100,000 people from around the globe.

* From the moment you enter the World you’ll discover a vast digital continent, teeming with people, entertainment, experiences and opportunity. Once you’ve explored a bit, perhaps you’ll find a perfect parcel of land to build your house or business.

* You’ll also be surrounded by the Creations of your fellow residents. Because residents retain the rights to their digital creations, they can buy, sell and trade with other residents.

* The Marketplace currently supports millions of US dollars in monthly transactions. This commerce is handled with the in-world currency, the Linden dollar, which can be converted to US dollars at several thriving online currency exchanges. "

Discovery Channel :: News :: Fossils Fill Human Evolution Gap

Discovery Channel :: News :: Fossils Fill Human Evolution Gap: "April 13, 2006— Four-million-year-old remains in Ethiopia have provided the first hard proof of a link between two key stages of human evolution by bridging the gap between prehuman species, paleontologists said Wednesday.

'For the first time, we found fossils that allow us to connect the first phase of human evolution and the second phase,' Berhane Asfaw, anthropologist and co-research director of the project that found the remains, told a news conference Wednesday in Addis Ababa.

'The fossils represent unambiguous evidence for human evolution,' he said."

Watch for more on this one. To date, every such claim has been shown to be a mistake, if not our right fraud.

Galbadia Hotel - A Video Game Music & Media Resource

Galbadia Hotel - A Video Game Music & Media Resource: "New to Galbadia Hotel? You're probably most interested in the links to the right hand side-- acess to our full archives of video game music, anime music, sheet music, midis, and even commercials are all available there. If you're interested in what exactly Galbadia Hotel is, what our mission is, and how you can help, feel free to read on.

Galbadia Hotel is still quite young-- we've haven't even been around for a year yet, but our mission seems to be one that's rather popular: our traffic more than proves that. Our quest to deliver an incredible archive of video game music, anime music and media is just beginning. However, we're always looking for additional help.

Spread the word! Tell your friends about us. The more popular we get, the more video game music, anime music and media in general we'll be able to host. In the future we plan on expanding past our current offerings. We won't just stop at video game soundtracks, artbooks and media-- we're already starting to add anime soundtracks to our collection. In the future we plan on expanding to whole anime episodes, downloads of abandonware games, and just about anything else you can think of related to video games and anime. "
